Privacy Policy
Effective July 10, 2026 ยท cardparlor.org
Card Parlor is a free site for playing card games with friends. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have. The short version: you can play without an account, we keep as little as possible, and analytics/advertising cookies only run if you accept them in the cookie banner.
Information we collect
- Playing as a guest: the display name you type, a random player identifier stored in your browser (so you can reconnect to your game), and your game activity (cards played, chat messages, room membership). Games, chat, and rooms live in the server's memory only โ they are deleted when the room closes and are not written to permanent storage.
- If you create an account (optional): your chosen username, a securely hashed version of your password (we never store the password itself), and your game statistics (games played, wins, placements).
- Technical data: like nearly every website, our servers process IP addresses and basic request data in server logs for security purposes โ for example rate limiting, abuse prevention, and blocking spam.
Cookies, analytics, and your consent
We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how the site is used โ pages visited, features used, and general (non-identifying) audience information. These tools set cookies only after you choose "Accept all" in our cookie banner. If you choose "Essential only," no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Essential storage โ such as remembering your game session, your display name, and your cookie choice itself โ is always active because the site cannot function without it.
You can clear your choice at any time by clearing this site's cookies/site data in your browser, after which the banner will ask again.
Advertising
We may show ads (for example through Google AdSense or Google Ad Manager) to keep Card Parlor free. With your consent, advertising partners may use cookies to show more relevant ads and to measure ad performance. Without consent, any ads shown are non-personalized. You can learn how Google uses data from sites like ours at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
What we share
- Your display name, game plays, and chat messages are visible to other people in the same room โ that's the game.
- Usernames and win statistics of account holders appear on the public leaderboard.
- We do not sell your personal information. Data is otherwise shared only with the service providers named above (Google, for analytics/ads), or if the law requires it.
Data retention & deletion
- Rooms, games, and chat: in memory only; gone when the room closes.
- Accounts and statistics: kept until you ask us to delete them.
- Security logs: kept briefly and rotated automatically.
To delete your account and its statistics, email us from any address and tell us your username: [email protected].
Children
Card Parlor is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, note it on the home page.
